Decades Lookbook: The 1960's

Decades Lookbook: The 1960's

From the civil rights movement, to the shocking assignations of Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy and of course, the Vietnam War, the 1960's were an eventful decade. Naturally, there were many different fashion trends as well.

In the early years, women's fashion idol was Jackie Kennedy Onassis with her white pearls and tailored suit dresses. By the middle of the decade, supermodel Twiggy had women freeing their minds and bodies into clothing that didn’t require any extra thought or effort. From modest to “there is no such thing as too short,” 1960's fashion was in many ways like the 1920's flapper revolution. Men continued to wear suits and sweaters, but added British Mod, Beatnik, and Hippie styles to their wardrobe.
